[lammo - it's annual review season here at the moment. There is a lot from this thread and my buddies only blogs that is forming content of the feedback to my direct reports and their direct reports].

Is there a parking space in my house? Wtf no! And how is that relevant to my TV repair? And please learn to pronounce English correctly without adding in extra syllables, then I might actually be able to understand you and answer your questions.
(Turns out she wanted to know if there was space for the engineer to park. But I'm still not clear if he wants to take the TV outside to repair or not. Seriously frustrated by that call)

I know you're only the receptionist, and we all have to work within the system that we've got, but sometimes the NHS is so incredibly frustrating that it makes me wonder if we should just privatise it.

[Well before Christmas, son1 had some worrying news about his eye health and was referred by his optician to the eye clinic at the hospital. The date of his appointment was Feb 14th (about a 10 week wait.) He assured me that the optician had said it wasn't *that* urgent, but still, I was concerned about the waiting time. On Feb 13th he got a call to say his appointment was cancelled because 'there were no doctors available.' Today he got a letter with the date for the rearranged appointment.]
The new date is not 24th April.
I am not thinking we need to go private for this.

I think the service would be much the same, but you'd have to pay a hell of a lot for it, and if you couldn't afford to then you'd be in an even worse boat, especially for something serious.

It is possible to watch the great pottery throw down without thinking about how weird the judge's hair is.
