Average county championship attendance 4,000 (apparently - at Chelmsford it's frequently a tenth of that or less.

MLB average attendance 26,843.

I wonder what they mean by average cc attendance? Is that per day or per game - 4000 seems very high for either, definitely very high if it's per day!

Temperatures: depends if it's hot or cold

"It's boiling outside: must be 85 degrees [F]"
"It's freezing outside: down to minus 2 [C]"

But yes, I also run in miles and swim in Ks. I suspect that's because my local pool is 25m long. Sounds more logical than swimming 82.021 feet.

I'm unashamedly metric due to being educated in transitional years, and to emigrating from UK many years back. Even so, I learnt machining from Americans initially, and have great difficulty switching in Europe from thou and tenths to microns. Sometimes, mixed fractions are easier to do mental arithmetic with.

Temperature in Kelvin please.

Here's why imperial is stupid. How many inches in a mile? or whatevers in a stone? I need to know exactly how many of the smaller units are in the bigger unit. And wtf is a chain?

I can work out how many cm are in a km. Just be knowing cm =1/100th and k = 10^3.

And that works with g in a tonne or pretty much anything - don't need a different conversion scale because there are 234 pounds in an ounce and then 2 ounces in a stone or whatever.

I'd guess that there are literally millions of people in the UK who, rightly or wrongly, will measure things in inches. Just because you don't agree with it doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

People measuring things in chains? Less likely.
