The Russians have been looking for an excuse to back out of the grain deal for a while. As things go badly for them in the war and their energy blackmail of Europe isn't working, they're looking for other leverage.

So far, the mild winter is helping defeat Putin.

Saw a piece on what countries are doing to disconnect from Russian gas. Liquified gas from further afield is sitting in ships outside facilities all over Europe.

The main problem is capacity to unliquid it. Some countries are converting the specialist ships to do the job.

The Russians (or their politicians and propagandists) have a thing about the "Anglo-Saxons", who supposedly are a dastardly bunch always scheming to dominate and subjugate the poor downtrodden Slavs. And they're particularly anti the UK for all the military assistance we've been giving Ukraine. It's as if they think that the Litvinenko and Skripal cases were nothing much and not deserving of any comeback.

…or that they’ve bought and paid for half of London and a lot of politicians and this is how we treat them?

Probably why they bugged Truss's phone. Not that it'll do them much good because it's good security practice to replace your PM every six weeks or so.

But maybe if the Russians knew they had a hack it would explain why anyone thought it would be a good idea to make her PM
