Just back from my Sunday long run. A glorious and thoroughly enjoyable 36km today. While I was out there, pondering the week, stuff an ting! as you do, I was reminded of a conversation we had at the dinner table a couple of nights ago. My boy (9) reminded us that we hadn't done leaf, rock, stick for quite a while. What is leaf, rock, stick I hear you ask. Well, you reflect on your day and consider what you would happily leave behind or let go of (leaf) from your day. What rocked (rock) about your day. And finally what you learnt today that will/should stick with you. So, I thought I'd apply it to my running and see how it worked out. With that in mind, for me today what will I leave (leaf) behind? That sometimes taking the right turn can be the wrong thing to do because I'd misjudged how far up the trail a river crossing was and ended up getting a very wet foot. Could have been worse of course. What rocked, I completed 36km for the first time in about 9 years and it felt great. More than great, it felt glorious. What will stick with me, that holding back at the start, can pay huge dividends at the end. How about everyone else. What have done this weekend and what are your Leaf, Rock and Sticks from the weekend? |

I like the leaf rock stick thing. Never heard of it before. Will have to apply it on my next run. Good long run by you today. |

Well done, Mark. That's a serious run! I've got the Grizzly this morning and hoping to bump into Hills of Death (HOD) and βͺβ« Synge βͺβ« - the trails are absolutely waterlogged, so no time expectations but it should be a good day out (just shy of 20miles/32km) at the seaside! And yes, you guessed it, as I sit here typing, it's still bloody raining!

Thanks, all! It has poured all night, but it is dry now. Iβm a bit further west than the race, but I hope this indicates dry weather. It will be very very wet underfoot!

I think we have just seen the last of what you describe, βͺβ« Synge βͺβ« - as you know, I'm east of you by 40 miles or so.
