Hi Eater of hills, you're very welcome to follow my training. I've taken the liberty to follow yours, too 😊 Normally, I'm commenting on each training session, the purpose and intended intensity. I'm also blogging about each training week. I'm probably going to deviate from the plan from time to time to accommodate races, like this week, where I've moved the long run to Friday. And I'm streaking, meaning that I'm running every day, but on rest days in the plan that's only very easy and short runs 1-3 miles as streak savers. Mondays, I run with a beginners group at a very slow pace for me (11:3-12:30) while my normal easy pace is around 9:30. |

Long road to fitness for me. I'm a stone at least overweight. Off the booze, which will help.

Cheers Tipsku. I just realised I'm a week behind you which is even better. It's just a bit of guidance for me. Enjoy your training and hope you hit your goal.👌

Your training is going well, Eater of hills, great job! Mine is also going in the right direction. 4 consecutive weeks of 50+ miles and I'm still feeling good. Intensity is still quite low; I guess I'll feel it more once the plan starts including intervals and more tempo. Blog of week 4: fetcheveryone.com/blog-share.php?id=461259 |

You too Tipsku. Doing great work. Had some ankle discomfort on the 14 miler yesterday which is a bit worrisome. Debating whether to ease off for a couple of days. Really don't want to. Will decide in the morning. Keep up the good work.

You’ve still got a lot of time before Belfast Eater of hills cutting back a little for a few days won’t do you any harm. You don’t want a niggle to get worse and take you out for a few weeks later on. Hope it’s feeling better though! |

Difficult balance to push through a bit of discomfort or recognise a developing niggle and rest. Only one person can answer that...

Quite so Oscar, one of the eternal conundrums. A physio, whose opinion I respect, advised me to learn to distinguish between “oooooch” and “ouch!” If the former, then generally easing back my pace/effort would see the niggle disappear; if the latter then any running would only make things worse. Just a thought. Hope it’s the former Eater👊 |

So training starts proper for my first marathon on 2023 later this week. It's a short run up, but i'm not targeting it as a PB attempt

Tipsku, are you adding more miles to the P&D plan than just the basic plan? 50+mpw for the first 4 weeks of the plan is definitely more than the plan says. Interested, because I do the same with the 12/55 plan - opt out of some of the rest days with easy 4-5 mile runs, and extend the long runs providing I'm feeling good enough to do it. Though even with that my early weeks of P&D still tend not to exceed mid 40s.
