She's a cruel mistress, the marathon. Not too far away though for another time.

Heat is a real punisher, hope you’ve recovered HOD

This weekend’s Hackney Half had quite a few collapses and tragically one death.

Sooo, on a whim I just entered an other one.. It’s been percolating in my mind for a while.
October 15th.
Definitely under 3:30, but my specific goal is not yet decided.

Good luck with the training Bowman. Where did you decide to race in the end?

I’m getting into the meat of my (typically unscientific) training plan now and really enjoying it. Beautiful, sunny, mornings make an early start so much easier and the current ‘heatwave’ is good prep for a potentially hot race day. Glorious this morning.

Thanks SailorSteve, it’s a semi local one vaxjo marathon.

Training is fine, I’m still doing some more speed work, and medium long runs. Will get my sub 10k soon, after that it’s all about the mileage and long runs :)

The reviews look great Frosty The Bowman 🇸🇪 and being semi-local is a big logistical bonus.

My only real experience of a lapped marathon course was when I set my own route for the VLM a couple of years ago. The facility to organise your own personalised ‘aid station’ with support was a big positive.

Yes, I think it’s ok with 8 laps, it’s an other kind of marathon for sure.
And comparing to a city one, CPH marathon, I saw exactly noting and have no memory of anything :) just the thousand yard stare for 3,5h :)

So my own lite place on a table sounds great to me every other half and hour or so :)

Also, I ran an other marathon around a run track, so just 8 laps will feel fine :)

Berlin and London fast approaching. 2 more long runs to come. I love this stage of marathon training, where the coming weekend’s run looms as “only 17”.
