They are not allowing deferrals for GFA or championship times which were from earlier in 2020 or before then! Some of my clubmates are pretty peeved about that. But I guess they need to draw the line somewhere... but I feel for one who qualified for championship at the start of Oct last year and she's now injured.

Oh no! That means no fast mara for me in my 40s then! This season is out, but I had hoped for a decent spring time effort and I'm not (yet) signed up for Manchester etc.

have you conceded defeat for this Autumn larks? Was it a glute issue?

I doubt that October will be my last mara but it may be the last one for a year or 2. The London move won’t help for sure.

I think we’re honoured to have the social media star Hinton in here. Was it me that was just worried about your teeth with that bottle?! Congrats on a good run at the HM, it was a great way to mark ascension to a new cat 😀!!

I reckon I have run my last London. Wont be fit for this year, cant defer GFA and it will be a challenge to get a GFA again.

Might join jda at Manchester. Or retire

Come to Mancs! Easier access for many, less of an overall bunfight (from what I've heard), pancake-flat lightning quick route and little chance of an early heatwave ruining your race :-)

I suppose it would be fun to do London some time, but I reckon I've got a few safe years of GFA qualification yet (assuming I stay injury-free which is quite a big assumption of course).

I am starting to think my marathoning days are over. Although I am back at 40mpw, running isnt easy and I havent seen a mile starting with a 7 or anywhere close.

I must admit I'm feeling a long way from any sort of running form, though generally quite fit from cycling. I'm thinking of starting up a parkrun habit as a way of kickstarting things. Marathon PBs certainly feel a long way out of reach, even WAVA PBs might be a challenge too far.

You’re building back up very sensibly Bazo; I’m sure that will be to your long term benefit but yet give you’ve plenty of time to prepare for a Spring marathon if you want.

Re: Manchester, I saw they “confirmed” the 3rd April 2022 date, even though entries have been open for almost 4-months. Given that participants of October’s marathon may be starting between 10:30am and 1:30pm, if there’s a need for Social Distancing, then I’d suggest considering waiting to see how things pan out then before considering an entry for April ‘22 .
