London on the night of the 12th for me - hopefully Mo's final track medal (dare I hope for gold?) plus could be Bolt's final 4x100m global medal too. Could be a loud one!
With 12 weeks to go Lou, surely there's a P&D plan for your campaign

My hip problem was temporary, but the ankle thing that started mid last week and was fine with 17 yesterday was very unhappy after 6 this morning and feels like that is now an issue
I had a planned sports massage today and she reckoned it was the 'peroneal' ? muscle and did some work on it and it barely hurt at all. She said it may just be overuse which given recent miles is understandable. She did at the end utter the dreaded stress fracture as a possibility. Its now pretty painful to walk.
Icing right now and will see how it is tomorrow, but might need to see if I can get a physio appt before the weekend when I go on holiday and see what the prognosis is

Fingers crossed that there's nothing serious going on there Baz. I'm starting to get hyper sensitive to every little niggle, bit with the four running day week programme I'm on I think I get a decent period of rest if I need it.
At least you're doing the right thing seeing some professionals.

Baz - Peroneal Tendon is what I had my Op booked for at the start of this year. I then cancelled it around 4 days before I was due to go in. When I first went to the doctors I was x-rayed for Stress Fracture and dare I say it but in some ways I wish it was that! I have had this peroneal issue for 18 month now. I am better at managing it but have been so stop start its untrue. My advice is dont push it. I do that way too often.
My physio used a skin and the sun analogy with tendon problems. Short exposure is good and gradual build up will make it stronger and able to take more but once you have 'burnt' it you need to really back off until its not sore. (She put it better but hopefully you get the drift!)

Baz - I just checked your log and you have put in some serious mileage lately. Mine started when for me I ramped mine up (look at Jan 16 for my highest ever month and you will see what happened)

lark ,I have loads of niggles, most of which I ignore and they go away. I suspect we are all the same. I was hoping the same with this, but it seemed to go up a notch or two today which I found off as it was fine with 17/12 at MP yesterday.
Daz, thanks for sharing that information. I will see how it goes over the next few days. If I am off running that means I create more space in the case for the girls to take more outfits on holidays !!!

It took me seeing an orthopedic surgeon with CT and MRI scans to get it properly diagnosed. Its not that common from what I am told.
The plan for my op was to remove some of the dead tendon.
Gareth Bale had Peroneal Tendon surgery at the end of last year!
I really didnt want to go the surgery route and have managed to get some good spells of running again but think in the end I may have to go have it done. My Private Medical insurance have already said they wont cover it via Physio for much longer as I have been advised to have an op.
If it is that hopefully you have been made aware early enough that it can heal and get back to normal.
You are right with niggles. I cant actually remember the last time I run without some kind of niggle around!

Thanks again Daz,,,,just been doing some google research. It only started last Tuesday, but oddly has moved location. What I first felt was near the back and I thought was achilles which isnt a surprise as I have issues with that achilles. However every day its moved round a bit round the outside of the ankle.
I took a rest day on Saturday for the hip and the ankle also got better so hopefully I just need to give it a few days and then can do lighter running while on holiday

Dangerous googling, but article I read said taping might be helpful support during rehabilitation. Is that something to consider Baz? Hope you get it sorted.
Well, my pig-headed self caused me to do an extra 5 miles at the end of yesterday to top up my monthly mileage to 258 to make it highest except for the 3 months of VLM 2013 training and the last month before WHW 2015.
Niggles I am nursing at the moment: right Achilles - ice and heat, plus doing eccentric heel drops. Not worsening. left hip flexor, adductor, pelvis. Old 2010 injury, hope to just stretch off. back - this might be just in my mind, but I worry about lower back. All I feel is slight weakness, instability though, no pain.
I'm paying to see a Chiropractor for a few sessions. Mostly just cos I am quite interested in the voodoo though. Mindfulness, holistic wellness etc. G
