Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Reading all this with interest. What is considered a good base?

I'm presently doing a long run of 13ish miles on a Sunday with two runs of 6 and 8 miles during the week all of which are at 75-80% of maximum heart rate. I also do speedwork with my club one evening a week with a couple of cross training gym sessions if there's time.

Cheers

Can I join in? Did 17.51 for 2.95 miles (allegedly!) at a relay event t'other day. Distance was Garmin measured and therefore, I am doubtful of it authenticity. I have never done a 5k before, so does anyone know of any 5k races coming up in the Nottinghamshire region this winter?

My club did a 1m race on track last night and I managed 5:51 without a warm-up, strides, etc, so I'm happy I'm therabouts a 20min 5k'er. Not sure if I'll get another 5k in before xmas. However, my clubs winter league of monthly 3 milers (est dist - probably fractionally less if you follow the best line) starts soon, got under 19 last year so if I can do 18:30 this time around I'm assuredly under 20min 5k pace.
