Four runs of 15+ miles in the final 12 weeks, a few interval sessions with club on Tuesdays, some medium length runs (10-13 miles) at steadyish pace. I was following Jack Daniels 2Q for a few weeks just before that, in the summer heatwave. That would have been far more effective long term but I couldn't stick with it, was busy with other stuff and having to go out at 8pm for two hour session, then started getting heatstroke. |

My best marathons (2.33 PB) were run on a diet similar to FuzzyDuck never more than 50mpw but I raced a lot and always ran parkrun like a race. This wasn't really a plan, I just prioritised work and family. But I don't think I'd have run any faster without risking injury. With Depeche's 5k he should be able to get the 10k closer to 34, HM 75 and marathon 2.40. Probably faster still with more race experience at the longer distances. |

Hello chaps. Weeks of consistent mileage paying off. I know they're abit wanky but did a virtual 5k on Sat, delighted with 17.13 Really need a proper race now. |

That's a great run Jock!! I do do struggle with the wanky virtual 5k mob matches. I could only manage 18.07 in last week's but I haven't really got a usable loop. Everything that isn't mud or bog or dangerous road is full of people waddling past with a couple of dogs on those extending leads waving their f**kin cappuccinos at you pulling up their masks and then pulling down their masks and shouting "you're welcome" as you take a wide berth onto the verge or into the traffic and still end up having to hurdle their f**kin dogs .... Really need a proper race now or at least the parkrun. |

Tom Pidcock (cyclocross elite) claiming virtual 5k PB here, which would take him to second fastest Brit for that distance on the roads: strava.com Garmin units seem especially bad of late for GPS being all over the place (zoom in and look at the GPS trace esp near the corners) |

Cheers Bob. Felt really good and not felt like that for ages. Industrial estate whilst not pretty it's fast and empty so can let loose. I do enjoy looking at your lonvvruns on Strava. You still got it mate. FD - well yeah those splits tell the story that it's bollocks. I do take virtual races with a pinch of salt but pleased never the less. |
