My mini plan

Aim is a sub 3:15 mara, so a sub 1:30 HM is a bonus or more realistically if I can't go sub 1:30 I can't go sub 3:15. I think that makes sense.

So Have Richmond Half in two weeks aim is to run slightly better than Reading - sub1:34, hopefully sub1:32. I am fine for target pace to 6/7, my finish time will depend on how far off target pace I drop

Then St Albans in June - hope to race Bree at bit (but let her win in last two miles ;-)) again I want somewhere between 1:31-32.5. Advantage here is knowing the course.

Then sub 1:30 attempt in July - looks like Wycombe but am undecided. Wycombe I have done before which helps but does have a stupidly huge hill at the start.

If I don't sub1:30 it ain't the end of the world - all I am really looking for is some progression in speed and speed endurance and a solid base for real mara training, were I actually follow a training schedule for once.

Bree
Wycombe also has a stupidly steep downhill bit which is what got me last time.

I think I may need more than one attempt at 1:30 and was considering MK for July.

on shit I am on the header now! ;-)

MK is an awfully dull race, packed start too - defo one for muscling to the front of start line. have been run into brambles before. First year I nearly lost my meat and two veg on a bollard.

Cheers folks. Still feeling chuffed, still walking funny.

What's St Albans half like? Always fancied doing a race there sometime.

St Albans is hilly Miser, a nice courses over the years. start (on grass) and finish (norms in the way) are the low points. But they usually have a ice lolly van in the finish zone. One or two long dull stretches towards the end. And always hot.

We're watching now you're on the header BCRB!

I failed on my most recent attempt (1.31.55) at Taunton. Reckon I'm going to celebrate turning 40 by finally getting it at Indian Queens on August 1st. In Cornwall even the place names are more interesting. Pity most of the halfs have the profiles of sharks teeth.

And we're watching you too now, Chrisull.

HOD - 2011 is a bit far off for an "upcoming" attempt. Let's have a 2010 one. ;)
