Sigh
WFH for the past two years has helped us decompress before retirement, and helped confirm that retirement is what we want to do. In fact, working for the next 12 months is going to be a PITA, but needs must

Yes I think perhaps going from 5 days flat out to zero is a big jump but I've been winding down for a while and am enjoying the not-work more than the work so...
My sister was younger than I am when she died 4 years ago, which also adds a bit of perspective. There were a few things she wished she had done, none of them were work-related!

SUe's been retired seven weeks, give or take. She's emerging from the 'sleep 10 hours a day' phase and ready to move on. It's lovely. Hope I have the same metamorphosis when my time comes.

11 weeks of unemployment for me now. Still quite sluggish, but I suppose recovering from a good racing season and having the plague won't have helped.

I'm glad you've posted bout this. Just coming up on 8 weeks for me and I still feel a bit *dulled* I was putting it down to the first 5 weeks being full of exams - hadn't realised it can take a while to properly decompress.

Nice post Pix. I'm excited about the 'part retirement' thing for me - think it could be the best of all worlds. Currently waiting on HR for the way forward.
I'd somehow forgotten that because of the way taxation works working half the hours gives you *more* than half the money, too. Which is a bonus although not the main reason for staying on part time.

I would happily go part time Greppers
It saddens me that when I sit here now and look about there are 6 people in my direct line of vision. 3 are at retirement age 1 works part time - but these seems to be so he can take month long holidays in his camper van which I guess is good but sad that he has to work to fund that.

It is a shame, Pix.
I said I'd never go to part-time in teaching because I'd seen colleagues who had gone to reduced hours who spent significant amounts of their days off doing preparation for when they were in school. One of them was a PE teacher. They even came in and worked for free when the head scheduled a sports day on their day off.
I think in your work environment, going part-time would be easier though.
