@EvilPixie that's what I did at Christmas and boy was it very physical and hard work. Those trolleys get very heavy

Sounds good, GG. Fortunately the Ness finances are such that we won't need to go back to work . There isn't time for that anyway! 😉😂

As for holiday plans... we have a short UK break booked to celebrate our wedding anniversary in August and a Balearic Islands short break for early October.

Next year we're hoping to have most of January on a Canary island as we did this year. We're also possible going on a cruise next summer.

I’d been retired about five years when the prices of everything started going through the roof. I had a chance of a very part time job that only pays minimum wage but was only for between six and ten hours per week. Pay’s enough to cover the cost of the gas and electric and a few other things. The timing suits me and it means I get my steps in on the days I work.

Fortunate enough not to really need it but the extra money does come in handy.

We are confident that the money we have works until I kick in my work pension and we still have savings.

I think it’s the fear that we find ourselves not living as financially free as we are now.

I’m sure it’s a normal concern, as I said earlier when we moved house we had £50 a month for food shopping and not much for a weekly night out with my brother. Yet once we moved and you work with budget it worked.

£50 a month for food shopping? That can’t be right?

I know that there are 4 of us, but our monthly food costs must top 1k

:-o , our monthly food budget for 4 is about £800, but I can remember feeding us on an awful lot less not that long ago.

I'd rather cut down on spending than go back to work

I budget £500 for 2!
Tesco £400 butchers £100
I don’t spend £500 unless I buy wine

We could easily cut back stuff but realistically I don’t think we would need to, or work
Which is good as I’m starting to like not working

It was 15 yrs ago and only 2 of us that’s what I am sure we had according to budget after we took out all the essential bills. As it happened we had way more free cash.

In comparison we normally spend about £30-£40 a week now. (Without wine/beer which we buy when it’s on offer)
