GG he’s just shown you what’s important to him …. Relaxing time with you on the boat! Can’t do that when working!

A good thing about that a boat is a money pit for maintenance is that many things can be turned into a time pit (i.e., labour-intensive). The way to meet the demands of a time pit is to retire 😀

What should be a simple process of opening a fixed rate cash ISA for some of Mrs axe’s TFC is proving to be more challenging than it should I have tried two different providers so far and have hit unsurmountable issues in their online process with both |

Financial woes here too. I wanted to take out a bank loan to fund a car purchase. Tesco bank, good interest rate and I’d be paying it back very early as we’ve got some savings maturing. No dice - because we are mortgage-free and don’t have any outstanding loans were seen as a risk because there is no guide to our repayment behaviour. Can’t get a loan.

Sounds frustrating. Mr Ness regularly uses a credit card for us. Always pays it off each month so we don't incur interest charges but he says it helps keep a credit record. Don't know if it helps too much! 🤷♀️

It’s why we got credit cards originally when we knew we’d want a mortgage I had also had a small manageable loan for my car as it showed you were a reliable payer. Absolutely bonkers but seems to be the way. You’d think that you’d paid mortgage off early and have savings you would be a good risk. Love your perspective Pix and yes nordrunner he gets very frustrated that he has to pay someone to do jobs he can do himself if he had time |

I was the same. I started with a credit card so I could have a credit rating in my own name. Helped when I needed a mortgage. Always paid it off monthly and used usually for my petrol.

I had got back into the habit of using a credit card for everything and leaving my pension in interest paying account, as tought by dad when credit cards first came out -but then it turned out easier to have a Chase account which pays interest and cashback and doesn't involve moving money to pay a bill each month. must remember to use the cc often enough for them not to cancel it though. |

TSB might be worth a try as well.
