While I am on holiday we seem to have brought in a new exec leader two levels above me. Will be interesting to see what changes this brings.
I wouldn’t be surprised if my flexible request is not approved.

Fizz :-)
I gave 15 months notice of my intentions, but was still contractually on three months notice, and no specific retirement benefits (except I went part-time), I only lasted eight months!
Hope you get your flexible working, Bazoaxe.

Most progressive companies have a "flight path" to retirement - allowing you to cut down days (with or without maintaining your pay and benefits, depending how generous they are). Hope your lot play fair Bazo. Really not very good after all your long service if they don't.

There is no official retirement glidepath. I will just see what happens. I won’t be surprised if this is the start of some changes being made as things are not working as they are.
Mrs axe received a call yesterday and has been offered the two days a week and every second Saturday role she applied for. She turns 60 end of next week and so that plus her pensions we are taking should almost cover what she was earning.
When I was out running today my mind wandered and had an idea that if I was made redundant and found a three day week role that would be perfect.

I gave 9 months notice so the governors had plenty of time to recruit my replacement. He was appointed two weeks before lockdown began (2020) so I could leave at the end of the school year. 2 colleagues at other schools had to stay for an extra term as their governors hadn't been able to hold interviews in time.

Watching, and enjoyed reading the no regrets posts as I retire at the end of September, a mix of excitement and a tad of trepidation. The only plans made so far seem to involve lots of marathon running.

29 working days to go for me. I told my team of my retirement plans yesterday, and the official email went out to the whole agency, so it’s definitely real now.
