I never had critical illness cover when I was working and I don't now. I've never had health insurance because I was always so fit healthy. After I retired, the health problems started piling up, and when I had AF that was the only time I paid to have private treatment, DCCV. The AF was so debilitating and exhausting that I could very little, and I couldn't face 6 months waiting for NHS treatment. I'm now even older ![]() ![]() |

I have health insurance from work. Mrs Axe has made good use of it, but I barely have. I did have one MRI when a bad physio told me my knee was fecked. MRI proved it wasnt. I hvave wondered about should I take it out on retirement of just trust in the NHS |

I have Private via work that they pay in full for us. States that it would cost £73.50 howevever we do have to pay 15% of cost (upto a max of £200 in a rolling 12 months) I recently had an MRI scan on my injured foot, cost was £550 (crazy really) and I paid £82.50. I can up the cover to 'Premier Plus' and remove the 15% and that would cost me £28 per month. I can add partner onto my policy for an extra £83.50 per month (with 15% excess) that would be £116 extra if on the Premier Plus. So what I am trying to say is cost would be £116 per month for a policy without any excess, which seems to be pretty much going rate give or take. I have always found them excellent and never question anything. Had loads of Physio over the years (you get 10 sessions pretty much without question), I have used the Private GP once (appt was next day) and found that good. |

My ex had private insurance through his work so I made use of it for my gall bladder op and my breast scare a couple of times. Don’t have any now

Bob! without checking, I think it was about £1,500 6 years ago, but I live in an expensive area. You have my sympathy with the AF. |

anyone know if there is any considerations to cashing in a stocks and shares ISA? Is it something you can take bits out of or do you have to close it to access it? and once you have the money would you then be taxed? I'm assuming not as that's the point of an ISA isn't it? interest but not tax? |

As far as I know , you can take money out of an ISA without any consequence. But you can't put it back in without consequence So for example, if you have maxed your ISA Allowance and take 5,000 out. You can't put 3,000 back in because you didn't use it. Also, if you've only used 5,000 and withdraw it, if you then put it back in you'll have used 10,0000 of your allowance. You can re-invest or withdraw dividend income from a S&S ISA without paying Income Tax I believe. Hope that makes sense |
