Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

We had a very promising chat with our FA last night. I just need to let the idea and the numbers sit with Mrs3M for a few days.... ;-)

Do you get access to an IFA through work 3M (as you know, I have an interest!) :-) G

My FA just visited and told me I’ve to start spending more cash 😂

Bucket list to be written. Although tbf, I’ve already been about.

Nope, Happy. This is a hangover from when the Staff Pension Defined Benefit Scheme offered me a big slug of cash in exchange for my Final Salary Pension. As part of the transfer out I had to consult an independent advisor, and I wasn't allowed to re-invest it into the company DC scheme since it would have been a financial conflict of interest. It's currently invested with Royal London instead! As a result of all that stuff I employed the services of an IFA directly, and pay them a decent chunk each year. That said, they've done a fairly decent job of management too. :-)

The FCA rules say a pension provider can only provide Advice (capital "A") on their own products. And yes, there is one of those available through work to us. :-)

But by definition - they're not therefore an Independent Advisor!

If anyone here plays Trader then grab me at 9 while you can and hold on as I'll only be going up from now on. I'm also after the 50 investors badge so I won't upload my 2 miles just run/walked until this evening.
