The Probus website looks a bit funny-handshakey.

I think it's more Rotary club than anything else, although I guess Rotary has a fair overlap in terms of demographic with the funny handshake brigade if the people I know are typical.

As in, women are excluded from the core business of the club but are encouraged to get involved with Good Works and make the tea?

My mum and my late mum in law both enjoyed Probus. Just a bit of info and get together particularly good for those on their own, I think. :-) G

I had never heard of U3A either, just had a look at local group, no way am I old enough, they are all crinkly and old, if I had a mind to I could join the walking group, they do walks of 30 minutes, nah not for me.

Cambridge U3A staged a rebellion and we have U3AC which is a splinter group. I’ve not done any of their groups/courses but plenty of my neighbours do. They hire our meeting room at St Clements for several groups and last night left all the windows open on the coldest night of the year!

I decided to just get on with the changes at work despite not agreeing with much of what is happening. I could have pushed for redundancy but it might not have happened and would almost certainly have got nasty. I decided just to get on with it knowing in 8 months time I can maybe make my own choice and leave on my own terms

There was talk of a possible partial concesssion, but that wasnt in todays comms albeit I was told privately that might still happen

In the comms session with more detail provided sadly this has raised even more questions for me and specifically on my role and where they have placed it. Some of the answers I was given and rationale make no sense really when you see the whole comms. Lots of other bizarre things going on as well.

I need to think about how I point this out to them. They will be well and truly sick of me and maybe will wish they had red penned my name on the structure chart.
