We are having a very private funeral and interment for my dad. We have no relatives left on either side and he didn’t have any friends so no point in paying £000’s for show.

PS Three serious proposals since my early twenties and knowing my own mind. Three 'thanks but no thanks' from me.

My Mum had purchased a funeral plan from the Co-op for £600, about 20 years before she died. She had specified all her wishes down to the last detail. A few days before she died, she knew she was dying, and she reminded me that she didn't want anything done differently. Only exception was that I was to give the contents of her airing cupboard to her neighbour who had done her washing for her for the last few years. Her neighbour liked doing the laundry for her and always complimented her on her lovely towels and bedding. After my Mum died I went to the Co-op and they followed her instructions to the letter. Nothing for me to pay, more importantly I didn't have to make any decisions. The neighbour was really touched with my Mum's request and cried. |

My husband and I paid for our own wedding, small affair. We ended getting divorced twice (long story). I paid for the first divorce and he paid for the second one. |

Shades Both my parents' pre-paid funerals were with the Co-Op and they were very good as well (although both were just over 20 years ago, so things might not be the same now). After my Dad died, I gave several of his garden implements to the next door neighbour as a thank you for the neighbour helping my parents. No IHT to worry about with those gifts, since my parents between them had only a total of about £10,000 and their furniture. |

I don’t want money wasted on my funeral when the time comes, I might make a decent meal for a few crows 😂

My dad always used to tell us we could stick him in a sack and take him down the tip for all he would care.
