Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I’ve finished The Animals in that Country. Well, I’d better do a spoiler. It ended so abruptly, I felt like throwing it across the room. I will not be reading any more of this author’s books. The main character was a cold fish. So much potential with the story, but a bit wasted I feel. No let-up on grimness either really.

I’ve just collected The Blue Afternoon from the library, so looking forward to starting that. Thank you threadsters. Strange & Norrell has also arrived at the library, but I only had a small running back with me and the hardback is HUGE! Will get it another day. Again, that’s another thread recommendation.

I really loved Strange and Norrell. I've also watched the TV Series (pretty good) and listened to the audiobook (very good) so I'm a tad obsessed :-)

I remember I bought the book on a whim as it was being sold in huge quantities in a Tesco's near where I worked on a lunchtime visit for sandwiches. I'm very glad I did.

I read the short stories/off cuts from Strange and Norrell (without reading the main book!) and they were pretty good. Have watched TV series , and Piranesi was great.

Yep, I nearly chose a reread of the short stories as this month's book club choice over on the other thread.
:-)
