I went to the library today and saw 4 things I wanted immediately! Sometimes I go there and don’t feel inspired by anything. I may’ve found more if I’d’ve stayed longer. Anyway - picked up the new Walter Mosley (I love him!). It’s an Easy Rawlins story - Farewell Amethystine and another Agatha Christie - Tommy & Tuppence in The Secret Adversary. I also found an Anthony Bourdain book and a Levinson Wood book in the travel section, but left them for another day. Still got Strange & Norrel + an adult graphic - Saga Vol 1.

Currently reading a book about Big Cats, - the mysterious sort, that people see but which then disappear without trace, and no-one can identify where they came from. It (the book) is by Merrily Harpur, which is quite a mysterious name in itself.

I’ve been labouring over a book since august. My reading virtually stopped as a result. I am not following any of it, but I am making this weeks holiday a time to finish it and then get back to reading regularly. Think I have. 20% left and have read 43% in the last two days. Might stil get some more read before bed.

I read my first Elizabeth Strout - Oh William - recently. I found her style really quite irritating and shan't be reading any of her others. I'm currently reading Tom Lake by Anne Patchett. It's pleasant enough, though there are definitely longueurs. It's set during the covid lockdown era and in a way these less interesting passages reflect the emptiness of parts of our lives in those times. Of the two, I certainly prefer Patchett's writing style. |
