I just thought I ought to come on here and apologise to Daphne du Maurier, I should never have doubted her: Rebecca is a the work of genius. I’ve not quite finished yet and I don’t know how it will end, but I can’t wait to find out.

Even though I spotted a few of the major plot developments a long way ahead, I didn’t foresee all the twists and turns.

I love a man who can change his mind.

I've read Rebecca a few times since I was - oh- about thirteen. I was stunned, at 67, a few lives older, by just how good - and psychologically complex - it remains.

Which reminds me I keep on planning a walk from Manderley (ok Menabilly), as it's not far from here and the coast round there is fabulous.
