Post office was OK, I think from memory I was put off initially as he's not complimentary about women.

The machismo was dreary and worse, lazy, in it which is a shame as there was a lot to like otherwise. It wasn’t a subtle book

I didn't like it because of the inconsistencies.

It is very much of its time. As I recall, it was equally uncomplimentary about men, and the women gave as good as they got.

Does make me wonder what kind of things she is highly informed on, if Dio expects her to be expert on that!

Having read all I'm reading of this month's Book Thread book (which I chose myself, so have only myself to blame for slight disappointment) I am now indulging in some non-fiction; anthrozoology, to be precise; a relatively new field, apparently. It is called The Animals Among Us, is by John Bradshaw, and (so far) is about the relationships between people and pets.

I started off quite enjoying the Delderfield To Serve Them All My Days, but I'm only a third of the way through and beginning to think 600+ pages is a good 200 pages too many. I guessed that a disaster was in the offing so perhaps wan't as emotionally affected when it did. I'll stick with it, it's an easy bedtime read, and hope that I'll feel more empathy for the hero by the end.

Don't feel bad Columba. Sometimes a book choice works. I'm pacing myself so I'll read it over the month

Almost finished Memory man on my kindle. David Baldacci.

Also reading SF. Embers of War by Gareth L Powell. Which I am liking
