Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Or there are things you can buy that release moisture slowly - crystals or summat.

They sit in a tray that holds a few litres of water, but drain that everyday. I may plant them in the ground and hope for the best

Litres a day? Maybe that's why mine are half the size. Whilst they were watered, it has been a lot less than that in the long dry spell.

(They have plenty of water daily now :-(.)

Here are my efforts. The droopy one is the tallest which didn’t break. It’s in the same pot as a much more promising one whose head broke off in mysterious circumstances but then more flowers sprouted from the leaf joints and headed skywards. It’s just over 7ft (2.17m to be precise) and hasn’t flowered yet.

In our neighbours’ garden! Ours is only to the left of the fence/pergola. The birds like it - bit spiky for my European sensibilities...!

My first pot of dwarf sunflowers is behaving exactly as I'd hoped. The others, with fewer plants per pot/lots of space in the flowerbed, are mostly just big ugly green leaves, though some of them may end up being actual contenders in the height stakes. Next year I'll know to cram them into pots and be stingy with the Tomorite.

Tallest one now 6 foot 8, it’s put on 8 inches in 3 days! Unless my measuring is dodgy. No flower on it so far.
