I have just seen the email, being from Cardiff, the start is very interesting.
Not sure if people will already have mentioned this but two South Wales running clubs have very long established relay events that are based around castles.
Welsh Castles Relay lescroupiersrunningclub.org.uk

RACK Raid fairwater-runners-cwmbran.org.uk

This route certainly has some of the same castles as the RACK Raid does.

What I was looking for was a document that Les Croupiers have which lists all the fortifications the route of the WCR passes, it is a large number as apparently Wales has more fortifications than anywhere else.

After a short dog walk I appear to be in Cathays, not far from where I worked 13 years ago.

I can't wait to to get out to Sully - the Captain's Wife might even be open again by then.
