Amazing running everyone! I didn’t start due to a heavy cold and general lack of oomph. I think an in person attempt might work better for me next year.

I've been thinking about in person @chunkywizard and all - advantages to in person = people, motivation. Advantages to at home = all the changes of clothes I could wish for, and food (if I've been shopping!) and can grab a dog for company! And my own bed. Knowing I am quite anti social on little sleep only GC will feel the brunt (and he's used to it!). There's a reason I've never done Endure24... So that's a maybe 🤣

Recovery is taking me longer than expected too, I was wiped-out physically and mentally yesterday, just about able to think straight today but the thought of even a short, easy-paced run is too much at the moment.

I've been thinking about a potential meet up too, but don't think it would work for me. I'm very much an 'on my own' type of runner anyway, and for this sort of thing (particularly if I decide to try a longer distance) I have to be in a bit of a bubble and focussed on my routine, I get very single-minded.

That makes me sound a bit uptight. I'm quite easy-going really. Honest! :-)

I'm someone who almost always runs on my own. I admit to getting a bit nervous about being able to talk and run; and also about having enough to say :-) The group run worked well for us though, as those that wanted to do their own thing went off on their own routes, whilst those who wanted company ran together. And it was nice coming back and seeing everyone safely checked in, and waiting for those still out on their routes.

I only did 1 mile for 7 hours and I’m totally knackered still. It definitely takes more out of you than you expect.

Definitely an 'at home' event for me. The minutes of down-time between each lap were perfect because everything I needed/wanted in that time was immediately to hand. I may well garner a bit of company for some of the laps next year as that would be nice.

I loved having the company of the others and the fact that everyone got the wet clothes back on and got out the door, meant that I was more inclined to follow. On my own I might have quit earlier.

However, that was based on only doing 7 hours. I think if I was going to continue longer I would probably have done what the others did, which was get home between laps and continue from home with more home comforts available.

I would have done more miles/laps if I'd stayed and others were running too
Once I got home it was too easy to be distracted by a comfy sofa and warm blanket
- but I also didn't overdo it and recovered OK after a restful Sunday.

Got something to say?
