Columba my garmin does that as it monitors my number of steps and estimates mileage though I fear that would be cheating

Well, if you really walked the steps then surely it's not? If your watch counts other hand movements as steps*, though, I guess it might.
*I was thinking chopping veg or knitting, which are both things I've noticed by Suunto seem to clock as steps. I am not responsible for anything else you might be thinking.

When I spent two hours applauding people coming over the line on the final leg of the Welsh Castles relay my Garmin counted 15000 steps even though I’d been standing still.

I just tried some clapping, doesn’t work sitting down but I did clock 3 extra steps clapping standing up 😂 it’s a Garmin fenix 6 S pro, I’m disappointed, although if I went for a ride on the back of my hubbies motorbike in my old Fitbit it would register thousands of steps!

Hiking and Nordic Walking have been added to the list now. If there are any other sub-categories that should be included, do say.

Conversely, if I want only to count running I can log any walks as 'other' and they'll be left off? Though that would hamper my walking target... life is so complicated 😪

I’ve signed up just to see how far I can get. I’m unlikely to complete 100 miles a month. I’ve rarely managed that except at the end of marathon training and life/injury/swimming is bound to get in the way some days but we’ll see.
