Hopefully not too bad. It was quite worrying seeing that she did get up.

Pauline is a fab rider, no doubt. But she is a lot up herself. Far more time for Loana as she spent a few minutes chatting to our Evie at the Worlds last year whereas Pauline couldn’t give a monkey’s. (I even approached her in French as I thought that was might appreciated but no. Very disappointing- you don’t know who you are influencing and inspiring).
Might get round to watching the race. I was in a field. For once in my life.

That's interesting Steppie. Never really warmed to her, and couldn't really put my finger on it

Tbf when we went to Lenzerheide almost all the top riders were like that. It’s why we’ve both been very pleasantly surprised to find the UK XC scene is much more friendly and inclusive these days (if you ignore BC’s shitty race reports that could have been written better using AI).

The top UK riders I’ve come across are all pretty decent. Obvs you can catch them at the wrong time, when they are busy, warming up, whatevs. Annie Last is nice, Evie is fine if she’s just won, Isla Short I get on well with, Charlie Aldridge is a sweetheart but so is his dad with whom I had a long chat about Roman roads in Scotland before I knew who he was. Max Greensill is a nice lad, Cam Orr and Cam Mason are both good lads. Granted my knowledge is based on what they are like when I’m trying to do podiums with them.

Today’s commentary by Matt (fixer) Payne with Isla wasn’t great. Reckon you’d have done a better job, Steppie Matt used to do the UK NPS way back when there was money from sponsors. He was better back then, but seemed a bit out of touch - especially with the women’s race scene - today.

That was edge of the seat stuff! Brilliant racing, and what an amazing result!! Good for Charlie Aldridge too - next time…
