Coincidentally I’m off to Penmachno this week, plus Gwydir and Tegla.

Or maybe not depending how my legs feel after Welsh hills. They haven’t done Welsh hills for ages.

Indeed. I shall be sliding round on the hardtail. We have been discovering limits of grip have me and the hardtail recently. Hopefully getting a loan of a full sus soon though which should please my ageing body. Well, until I start riding harder that is.

Yes, I’m not riding my hardtail outside of winter at all really these days - too hard on the old body. What full suss are you getting your hands on?

A DMR Sled. No idea what components but presume DMR heavy. Hopefully next couple of weeks. Should be interesting. Last full sus I rode was that Meta that badly needed attention when N’s seat post broke at Cannock. So a good few years

We’ve been scrabbling about looking for routes in the woods. Limestone, clay, puddles and loads of rooty-toots made for a very slow progress. Great to see the little one cleaning some very technical sections. :)

I’ll be interested to hear what you make of Penmachno, Steppie. And I pity you having to ride it on a normally aspirated bike. Take anything and everything waterproof you have… some sections are just puddle after puddle. About 25% of it was enjoyable. The rest was just a slog. I really wanted to like it, with its natural non-trail centre feel, but it feels very unloved and in need of a bit of a makeover in places.

Interesting. Did you ride all of it or is the second bit still shut?

Gwydir was 800m climbing today. Some nice bits but too much fire road connecting them. And they do like their drop offs on the last two sections. I haven’t ridden this many rocks in years

Gravel also welcome :)

Also, is 26 dead yet?
