Looks serious and excellent article Steppie! What happened? Did he crash, taking you out, landing on top of you? It is hard to work out what is going on in the photo. Injury sounds grim, hope he heals well!

That’s the first of our lot to have a serious crash at Leeds Bike Park. Tom did his shoulder/ collarbone at Stainburn.
Daz spooned a landing somehow. We couldn’t move him so used the bikes to close the track until he’d been taken off. Closed the track to most folk that is.

There's been an ambulance in attendance every time we've been there! The first time we were the ones who called it (not with the rider who crashed, just first on the scene) and yesterday there was already one when we got there.

The upside down bike thing is ace! Especially if you are only two riders! I have put a rider along the trail to warn others before, but if you haven't the manpower this should signal to even the thickest, self absorbed rider something is wrong!

Didn’t Al do his arm there?
YP you’ll be getting a MTB next with all this ‘off road’ you’re doing

Nope, Al did his arm at Oakwell.
It's actually pretty hard work to get an ambulance out to LUBP these days. Apparently you need to tell the triage paras they casualty has a breathing issue/chest pains - those are the trigger words currently. It took a bit long for the ambulance to arrive and the crew were a bit frustrated

Blimey, that’s alarming. Although I can understand if they’ve been called out to more minor injuries… a badly busted hip like that one doesn’t sound like the sort of thing you can limp back to a mate’s car with though, eh…?

No, exactly. Hence the frustration of the ambulance crew I think. They also weren't expecting us to be as old as we are either
But partly because of all that I've bought a Garmin inReach just in case shit happens when there's no signal.

Thanks for sharing that article. Alfie took a spill on Sunday but luckily we were well positioned and able to get off the trail to administer first aid. Carrying a first aid kit wasn’t something I used to do but have got in the habit because of the remote locations we often ride. This was a trail centre but it’s now habit to have the FA kit.
