Use to ride a Single speed a lot around Cannock and the Welsh trail centres. With the wide gearing of a 12 speed especially in x2 can't see the point of x3 anymore.

It's gentler on the gear. 1 x systems wear faster especially if you spend a great deal of time in the large sprocket on the rear. It's putting stresses on rear mechs we aren't sure how to deal with yet - SRAM Eagle has had quite a few issues with rear mechs blowing apart. Fewer gears on the rear and more on the front keeps chainlines much, much nicer. But it's not sexy and doesn't sell bikes.

I'm such a mechanic I prefer the deeply practical. As is evidenced from my bikes

Sram had an issue with rear mechs blowing years before Eagle was introduced As for access wear as I've said I've been running it for years without hardly any issues.

The standard industry joke about why SRAM favoured the 1x system was so they could get rid of front mechs as theirs were always shite
