Was looking for a cheap hardtail for local blast and possibly having ago at the local Friday Night Summer Series as don't fancy dragging a 170mm Enduro round, and kind of narrowed it down to the Trek Procaliber 6, Specialized Chisel and a Scott. Happened to be in my local bike shop browsing and saw they were selling last years Procaliber 6 off with £400 off. Luckily I fit a 17.5" frame :)

Was looking at frame only but the Chisel is not available in the UK as a frame and the Trek was going to cost £650. So a few hundred quid more I got a complete bike :) Thinking of swapping the drive train to x1 not used a front mech on a mtb in years :)

I’m still 2x on my Cotic - no real need to change and it does me well for long adventure riding as well as knocking about the Chase. Nice spread of gears for fast road sections and off-road sharper climbing.

I’m still 2 x. Much prefer it. Indeed, I’m toying with the idea of a triple on the Troll. Ooh, alliteration. Lovely.

I likes a triple. It’s how it used to be, before they found it necessary to mess with our souls in an attempt to sell us new bikes.

Single speed is awesome. 3x9 is by far my favourite multi geared combo. Lasts ages, easy to tune, lovely range of gears. Not trendy. Can’t get it in nice stuff anymore.

I feel very lucky to have an XT triple still in its box, wating to be fitted. It was being sold off cheap (if I’d known why, I’d have bought 2!).

Since the last appearance of Kaph, some time ago... there are now three wheel sizes, and now new plus (+) tyres for the even more adventurous!

26 / 27.5 (650b) / 29 / 27.5+ (650b+) / 29+ / fat
whatever you ride, enjoy it :)

Gravel also welcome :)

Also, is 26 dead yet?
