Potentially, the grit and mud destroyed my chain ring, my brake pads have definitely seen better days and my frame looks as if it's returned from the war... I think we fared better than some though, Jubear spoke to a bloke who was packing it in after one lap!

I remember Mayhem of 2012 leaving some scars on my carbon frame... most of us needed to replace some element of drivetrain... from what I heard of this weekend, it was a similar story.
One of Gobi's mates mentioned a brand new chainring and chain being knackered... possibly his cassette too...

There was a point, when I dunked my bike in the river, when I was close to deciding that enough was enough and the cost was gonna be too high... but you keep going... then it's all over and you start to plan next year....

A good result definitely makes paying for repairs more palatable.
I just went into my LBS (Knobblies) who had a couple of teams riding at Twentyfour12 - they were second in the men's vet cat. What was great was they all knew who had won the ladies and there was much mutual back-slapping 🤗 I can see us being head-hunted for a sponsored team next year 😝

Did 2 runs today downhill, first one was nearly 11 miles long with some really steep technical twisty sections with apparently the top section with a lot of adders laying in wait just off the trail and then after dinner a nice 7 mile downhill back to where we are staying.

Sounds ace Dave!
I have a friend who lives in the Sierra de Loja and he has reported on the extreme heat and drought they are having this year. Rivers that are never dry are dry, and all his animals (he has a smallholding of sorts) keep coming into the house to stay cool. He has had to be re-connected to the communal water supply as he fears his borehole is about to run dry
