The Doctor K Cup
98 watchers
The seventh annual Doctor K Cup will take place on Saturday October 19th 2024
All you need is a GPS watch or app. On the day, RUN AT LEAST 5K WITHOUT LOOKING AT YOUR WATCH. The Fetch Benchmark system will pull out your fastest 5k from your run (so you can include it as part of your long run if you like). The person who gets closest to their prediction will be declared the winner (though the judges decision is final!).
It would be lovely if you could upload your 'K' pics to the gallery (make a K shape with your fingers) to help us remember Doctor K and all the Fetchies we have lost.
NB A GPS watch reporting 5.00km will do so from 4995 metres onwards, but you MUST run at least 5000 metres or more. To avoid disappointment add an extra 10 seconds on to the end of your run, just to make sure.
How to join in
Firstly, add the 2024 Doctor K Cup to your Fetch portfolio. All you need is a GPS watch or app. On the day, RUN AT LEAST 5K WITHOUT LOOKING AT YOUR WATCH. my home parkrun always measures short, so I had to factor in a warmup or some walking after. Anyway, pretty sure I'm at least 45s out

I stopped at 3.2 which was about 30s off too not sure if 5k was 3.1 or 3.14 Plus I walked a bit at the start so if itโs 3.1 I may be closer if it takes the best 5k! |

For all our lost and loved fetchies! I added another minute when I planned my 10k route with a tricky bit right in the middle. Total time on garmin but not on fetch so I have not got a clue how close the fastest 5k was. Hoping within 30 sec. |

Aaargh. Based on 1st 5k, I should have stuck with my more optimistic prediction!

Just realised I misread the rules and was watching my watch. In my defence it was a course PB and about 6 seconds slower than the time I put down so I wasnโt sandbagging.

Garmin uploaded to GC but not to Fetch yet. parkrun course measures short and I walked back to run in with someone so don't know how far out I am. My parkrun e-mail says I was 3 seconds out but that will be nearer 30+ seconds when it uploads I'm sure.
