Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

[I did the exam in U6 too and was offered a place at a college other than I wanted. I declined and went to Bristol instead]

Took Oxbridge 7th term - worked at a local company in the 3/4 year break, and am still working for them (on the same software suite) 37 years after graduating...

hubby did the 7th term thing and as a result doesnt seem to get how the system works (or in this case doesn't) when you get results and have to sort everything out really quickly

The current system is a mad scramble that gives neither student nor university time for considered decision making

Ofqual seemingly ploughing more of its own furrow, apparently without sharing its plans with DoE.

What a mess. Scotland managed to get it right though it did take them nearly two weeks.

The ones I can’t understand are the ones that have been downgraded by two or more grades. How and why does that work?

Daughter says two boys in her year were both predicted A*A*A*. One had that. The other got something like ABD. (Same subject too). Doesn’t make any sense. And this is a fee paying school-obv not exempt from downgrades.

From looking on here and also experience of friends' teens the idea that it's only the inner city large 6th form colleges that have been downgraded seems a bit innacurate.

Yes I've heard a story of a student who has been downgraded who went to an independent so there must be other factors in the algorithm.

Also the teen now knows that one of his grades was downgraded from the CAG although he didn't seem bothered about appealing. It doesn't affect his Uni place but on the other hand his grades are for life.
