i have chosen the flattest course in the NW, will do next to no hard stuff this week and given 101% next sunday to go sub 85 - given the slowish return from injury i am probably dreaming to expect 45 seconds to come off from 2011 to get under 85 mins but i will keep to a steady 6.2x mm for the first 8 miles and then it all depends on the winds and stamina etc....rolll on blackpool...

I'm going to give sub 85 a crack at Bath on Sunday. I'm not in the shape for the 1:23:26 from last year, but feel good enough to get under 85.

You are faster than me so it's not right for me to give you advice but....when I ran wokingham I had real success in setting myself a 'max target time' for each mile - it was 6:29 in this case. It really stopped me worrying about how far to go, average pace, etc, etc. It might be worth a whirl. Good luck!

Good luck postie at Bath...sub 85 should be well within your sights..

First road race of the year for me tomorrow at the Inverness half, pretty strong field out so hopefully get pulled along by some fast runners...although not quite quick enough to snatch the £1000 first place cheque:-o

Woohooo!!!! Did it guys! Colchester Half Marathon.

My half's to date just haven't reflected what I should be capable of, given my 10k, 10m and Marathon times, but that all changed today at Colchester. The course was tough over the first half and there was a nasty hill in the town centre which seemed to take many by surprise. However I worked my socks off and had a blisteringly good race and PB'd by 4m 2s, coming home in a chip time of 1:23:50! I'm over the moon with that :-)

Really disappointing 1:29:07 today in Bath. I knew I wasn't in tip top shape before, just didn't realise how bad a place I'm in until today. Five and a half minutes slower than last year, four and a half slower than my previous HM in Cardiff last October. Very poor. :(
