I always find taper etc means that race day MP is a whole lot easier than it ever was in training. As for me I’m still on occasional 5km jogs and my knee is still just a little less than 100%. Have booked in a hilly parkrun next weekend which will test whether it’s actually improving at all! |

Hope your knee gives you good feedback next weekend jdawayinamanger I'm reliant on taper & shoes but think 6.55 ave pace still is more likely than sub 6.50. Even 6.45 pace feels too close to having no margin. I think 6.40 comfortably now would have had me feeling much more confident. |

Ideal conditions? Freezing fog here though it was at least dry and very still. I think the magic of a taper and pinning a number on will make a big difference rhb and if you'd regret not trying more than you would failing it makes sense to go for it. Sorry to hear that your knee is still not 100% jda. Mine are about as close to the edge as they get I think. I'm worried that every run might be the last I can do without pushing them over the edge so instead of backing off and having a cutback week like any sensible person I find myself trying to get the miles in whilst I can. |

What shoes were you wearing rhb? Super shoes plus a taper makes a massive difference. Just keep plugging away lmh, only a month or so till taper time! Jda it sounds like things are going in the right direction, do you have any other running plans for this year? |

Surprise pb for me today at Cambridge half means I guess I should enter a marathon. Almost perfect conditions here too, around 5 degrees and very little wind. Turns out feeling rubbish on an easy week is a good sign, who knew! |

Impressive run Chris. You are on form, make the most of it Just noticed today was Haweswater half, probably my favourite winter warm-up race. And a lovely day for it too. I had previously thought of jogging it but not really sensible. I don’t have any real plans, will see how things go over the next few weeks. |

Great result Chris Today I was in Magic Speed 2, the Super Shoes are Meta Speed Edge+ or something, the cadence not stride ones. |

Thanks all, I made the change back to vaporflys after a couple of below par years wearing alphas and it seems to have helped. Rhb I’m not familiar with those shoes but if it’s the same as zoom fly vs vaporfly there will be a nice improvement with the super shoe |
