Maybe a factor…I’ve had a couple of decent races so I’m going to put it down to a bad day and hopefully forget about it.
I do wonder how affective alphaflys are when it comes to running on loose trails

20 miles this morning with 10 at effort and I’m knackered now 😁 I’m hoping I can put some of that down to using my original zoom flys with over 60 miles on them.
Fairly happy to get that done, means an autumn marathon might be on the cards

I’ve rested for a few weeks, tomorrow my next marathon training block starts. Some mixed feelings

Sounds like a good place to be Chris. I'd managed to string a few sixty mile weeks together with a LSR of eighteen miles and seemed to be bearing up quite well, made it seventy miles the week before last and my right knee has gone again. Had a low week last week due to other health issues/tests but it doesn't seem to have appreciated the rest. Physio on Tuesday but not expecting miracles and whilst I could run a GFA tomorrow it wouldn't be close to the sort of time I'd be happy with and I'm not sure I'm mentally up for a marathon campaign through the winter to have a crack at London anyway. Not quite ready to give up yet though. I guess old habits die hard.

Bit of a pedestrian 10k for me today, my A goal was to beat last year's pedestrian time of 41 mins (it's not a fast course) and my B goal was to improve in WAVA terms which would allow 20s slower. Ended about 30 seconds down, was going ok over the first half but struggled to keep it going.
I've been taking it pretty easy over the past month so I suppose I got what I deserved. A good day out anyway and a multicoloured buff to take home!
Sorry to hear of your ongoing problems LMH. Seems like every time you take a few steps forward, you get a setback.

Thanks jda. I think I need to come to terms with the fact that my knees are not going to allow for the sort of training I feel is necessary for me to get anywhere near three hours but I'm having difficulty getting my head round that.

Good efforts all round, even if not the hoped for result and injury!
I’m 2 weeks into marathon prep and have actually managed consistent running 4 weeks out of the last 5. This is pretty much unheard of for me post-2014, so I’m happy even if we’re talking 20s and 30s mpw.
Feel the most committed to getting the runs in in a long while, so hoping it continues and I show some improvement!
When’s your marathon Chris?

LMH have you tried a marathon on lower mileage? I know it might not get you in tip top shape but maybe good enough that you can continue to run?
Bowman, how’s the first couple of days gone…got the desire back?

Miser how quickly do you plan to up the mileage? With less than 13 weeks till your marathon I’m guessing it’s going to ramp up soon?
I’ve not got a marathon booked yet, just going to see how the next month goes but if I do one it’s likely to be Something in mid October
