I reckon I passed jock itch around 20. It was a bald guy in a fetch top. I was too far away, couple of metres, to be bothered saying hello. Just wanted to finish.

Sorry so many people didn't get what they wanted.
You can help yourself to acclimatise for the heat. I always do some overdressed runs in the build up to my spring marathon just in case it turns out to be a hot day and if you have access to a sauna/steam room you can use those too. The last five Londons haven't been that bad, you can just about bank on whichever spring marathon you choose being the hottest day of the year so far though.

You all showed great courage out there today, rather you than me in this heat, I still get nightmares about my first marathon in Edinburgh '09 with 28 C heat. 😧
Hydrate well lads, you've earned it 🍻

Thanks for the credit guys but it certainly wasn’t plain sailing for me.
Interestingly I don’t think the heat bothered me too much, I made sure to chuck plenty of water over my head and shoulders at every stop. Plus I’m not exactly tall so maybe that helped me get more shade?
At mile 4 I chucked a burgle and forgot my gels were in my wrist band and 2 went flying. I had to stop and run back into the crowd and managed to retrieve one so altered my gel strategy.
One mistake I made was not wearing my race trainers enough recently. My calves were sore after 8 miles and although I stayed on sub 2.50 pace I realised at 18 miles that it wasn’t on since my calves were screaming.
I managed to hang on to decent pace until around 22 miles when I really noticed the head wind which just destroyed me mentally.
Although I’m annoyed I didn’t keep the pace I think I gave it all I had today. Not sure if that sub 2.50 is in the legs or not now

Oh and we’ll done everyone, it wasn’t nice seeing people go down near the end. I know how hard it is to keep going once the time has gone so kudos to you all for making it to the end

Commiserations to those who didn't get what they wanted today - I'm sure you'll all come back stronger when the conditions are kinder. Congratulations Chris. Cracking effort.

Well that was brutal. Managed to get around in 2:53 but my splits were awful (surprisingly enough). There was no respite anywhere on the course and I was just hanging in there at the end. I have never seen so many obviously good runners going so slowly along the Embankment.
Well done everyone on surviving that.

Jomo our races look incredibly similar, did you struggle with the wind near the end?
