Another 800m pace session for me today. Conditions perfect & in spikes, 3 * (3 * 200m) w / 100 jog; 400 jog. Averaged 29 secs for reps and 61 secs between reps, 3:55 between sets.

Felt really good - maintained form throughout and legs felt as good at the end as at the beginning.

Nice running there Moragham :) I wanna start getting some race pace sessions in soon. Did a couple of 300's in 46 the other night as part of a session.

Some good 300's there - what was the session?

My next 800m session is 5 * 300m w / 3:00 recovery

10:00 run

4 * 60m fly-ins.

Next on after that: 3 - 4 * 400m w / 4:00 recovery

10:00 run

4 * 60m fly-ins

I did a (4 x 600m/400m) with kids club. Not to taxing for me as I was pacing them thru in 2:00 and 78 . However on the last set I gave them a head start and I managed 1:45 and 57 . Was abit surprised as I didn't expect them to be able to run as fast as they did. Not sure when I will get out for my own quick session.

Rolling back the years Jhuff?!!

When does everyone plan to run their first 800m this year?

Unless I get pulled into the 800m in the club's first SML fixture on the 1st May mine will be on the 8th May in the County Champs.

First bank holiday in May for me. Won't have done any specific training though due to ankle that isn't at 100% but should hopefully be ok by race day.

The session didn't sound that hard but it wrecked my legs for 3 days after! It was 3 x (800m at 5k pace, 100m walk, 300m flat out) and 4 mins between sets. We did 5 x 60m sprints after (need to work on my technique!).

Did a tough session with my coach yesterday; 6 x 2 laps of this field (on a slight hill) which is roughly 1k for each rep. But pace was fast as I was training with a guy aiming for sub 1.55 this year (did 1.59 when he was 16). We were hitting them in under 3 mins each then 2.5 min recovery.

Coach now wants me to build up to 3 track sessions a week (starting now) and on Satrudays doing things like 4 x (4 x 200m in 29/30 with 1 min recovery - which will be reduced later in the season) or 10 x 400m in 63 each! Basically he wants me to run most of my track stuff at 2 min pace or close.

My first race will be a 1500 in 2 weeks, but first 800m will probs be Avon AA champs on 8th May.
