For bodyweight stuff, I do 12 reps x 3 (for no real reason, that’s just what the nice 15 year old PT at the gym suggested) of a fairly random selection of exercises including sit ups with a weight, that one where you lie on your back and lower your legs slowly, Russian twists, crunches with my feet on a gym ball, V-sit pulses, mountain climbers, glute bridges...again more about DOING SOMETHING (I should maybe try a more focused approach to training, bit then I’m not sure it would happen at all...)

Crikey, I read that training session and thought, "EVERY DAY? You'll fry your CNS, bro!" Then I looked back.

I wholeheartedly approve of your weights session, Maz. It's almost exactly my basic session - though ideally I'd add a 'pull' for the back - eg lat pulls. Compound movements are the way to go for results in the least amount of time.

Some of the moves are best demonstrated by someone who knows what they're doing, and even better who knows you but as you say you can be sensible and adapt so you don't do yourself dodgey.

Did you start today or was that just info for Linds?

Ladies who lift - lots of info and support re (serious) strength training. Pink weights are banned though, so beware.

That was info for Linds, I don’t normally go to the gym on Mondays cos I ride on Monday evenings, & Tuesday is generally a better day workwise for fitting it in.

I gave up skating, essentially because there wasn’t enough coaching for me in the group lessons, but there is a weird hierarchy in skating where you can’t seem to get anyone interested in private coaching until you reach a certain standard. Plus there was a bit of politics going on to do with rival teaching schemes that I didn’t get involved with but it made it all a bit unsettled and unsatisfactory.

I don’t know if it comes across, but I am very much about DOING THINGS RIGHT, having a STRUCTURE and ACHIEVING STANDARDS. (I’m a delight to spend time with though. Really... :-) )

PS, every day? No chance. I congratulate myself if I average twice a week.

It looks like an excellent twice-a-week session. I was shuddering at the thought of high rep squats and deadlifts to exhaustion every day. (I only do each of them once most weeks, and not in the same session.)

I am going to start regular strength work this month. Pressups at home using the 100 pressups app, and kettlebell in the gym. If I manage the kettlebells three times a week I'll reward myself with a couple I can use at home too. It's been ages since I did any strength work and I've been thinking for some time (probably since my 50th birthday!) that I need to address that.
