Hello fans and followers of Do A New Thing for Spring ... how do you feel about an autumnal version?

Back to school is a great time of year to start something new, turn over a new leaf - new exercise books (how apt!) and all that.

It will be similar but not the same as the other thread which I intend to resurrect at the start of Lent 2019, as per.

So who fancies joining me Starting Something in September.

Terms and conditions tomorrow! (Or tonight if I get round to it.)

I couldn't possibly comment on whether Drinking More would be an appropriate Start Up.

*thinks*

Well actually I could. But I won't.

I'll be starting a new job and a few other things, including staying away from home during the week because of it, so it seems an excellent opportunity to try some other new things too (like being tidy, or morning yoga, or something).

My feeling is that unlike 'Do A New Thing' we should have more of an emphasis on starting something you hope to continue with - at least 'til the end of the month, but perhaps beyond that too.

There won't be the same signs of spring to notice (er, obviously) and it would be too sad to note things like days getting shorter and the birdies flying off for their winter hols. But I bet we can think of other meanings for 'start' and 'start up'

I'm in - having benefited from 2 lots of hilly running and a 13 mile climb up and down the Cheviot, I am determined to fit regular hill training in - I feel so much stronger, but I know it won't last unless I carry on.

I want to start being more positive :-)

I also want to start drinking more water when I'm in the office.

Great. That's five of us with a good selection of starts already.

My idea is - similar to the other thread - you report in when you actually DO something. So it's more than just a list of good intentions and with a bit of luck will create helpful momentum.

I haven't thought of much tonight, I've been watching old film of Oasis live, always cheers me up but is hardly new.

Probably good at starting arguments .... and fights! :-)

EXCELLENT!
