Was doing a roast dinner but chicken was a toast in the bag thingy so decided to do a deconstructed Shepherds pie as it was cooking. I fried the onion and carrots off added the mince then wacked in tom puree, lea and perrins with some stock, chucked it slow cooker and forgot about it. Continued making roast dinner but chucked some sweet potatoes on to make mash for the 'topping' So two evening meals sorted for next week will just steam some kale while I reheat that. Have talked CB. into doing his spag bol like that too (doing all the faffy bits then chucking it in the slow cooker to 'develop its flavour' No having to keep checking it and adjusting temperature.

Tomorrow I'll prep the lunches for work. Chicken, parsnips, carrots and brussels all roasted on one tray in the oven added to a small portion of rice and popped in fridge ready to go.

Do you taste the cola Lizzie? Heard people doing it but always been a bit wary of spoiling the ham.

DiL did her gammon in the slow cooker for Christmas dinner with the cola, honey etc. It was gorgeous although it fell away so looked more like pulled gammon - I preferred it that way.

I cook stew and goulash ( nearly the same thing ) in my slow cooker as I prefer beef to be falling apart. My only problem is I still use too much liquid - just need to be braver and not put so much in.

I tried the gammon/cola in our slow cooker but found I couldn't taste the cola much.
