I have done lasagne in ours, though not sure it was easier to do as I browned the meat off and made up the Bolognese sauce and white sauce same as I would usually, but layered it up in the slow Cooker to cook. I've also done jacket potatoes, wrapped them up in foil and I think I still pricked the skins first. They cooked up ok.
I've also got a recipe for slow cooked banana bread which is really good

Just up to bed but here is the recipie
Flour- 1 and three quarter cups
2 tsp baking powder
Half teaspoon salt

1 and a quarter tsp baking soda
Third of a cup of Marg

Two thirds cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 tbsp golden syrup
3 ripe bananas,mashed

Mix all up and bung in slow cooker. Last time I made this I greased it out and lined with greaseproof paper on the base to help get it out. Timewise I cook in ours on low for about 3 hours but depends on your settings. I think ours runs hot. I left it 4 hours last time and it was a bit overdone . You can check with a wooden cocktail stick poke in middle and if comes out clean it's done. My 9 year old likes making this

What a great thread idea :-)
I always do our Sunday roast in the slow cooker, with about 150ml of water, and it’s beautifully tender.

I’m interested in bread ideas, not something I’d have thought of! Our bread maker died a few weeks ago so I’m looking for a replacement.

We cooked our turkey crown in the slow cooker for Christmas Day and it was the best we’ve ever had - 8 hours on low for a 4kg crown.
I prefer beef to be cooked in it too - just a drop of water added.

Going back to jacdaw's article, I wouldn't pretend that anything I do in the slow cooker is haute cuisine or, most times, wouldn't be better cooked another way. But it allows me to prepare a meal 12 hours before it will be eaten and often eaten at different times by various people before I have got home from work. There is a certain satisfaction at going to work knowing that three people will have been fed and a portion of warm curry waiting for me when I get home! My OH has some weird muscle thing in his neck which means his throat can't expand and he struggles to eat meat in any form other than minced or completely falling apart so the slow cooked meat is ideal for him.

I should use ours more often, I'm not organised enough! I mistakenly bought a higher capacity one as we are a family of five, however because it is bigger it has a larger surface area and cooks too fast. A meal would be done in half a day rather then a full day. Unless I filled it full but no one really likes stews and casseroles except me and my daughter. And I'm veggie!
