Stewie
I had a driving assessment last Thursday and got through that no problem, at the minute I will be working the odd weekend shift for them with a view to a temp to perm contract in the new year, they seem like a decent bunch from the boss down so hopefully it will all be sorted in the new year, Ive been with my current outfit for over 12 yrs now and in fairness they've always treated me well but the last 2 yrs have been tough with the death of my mum last year and now looking after a disabled dad, the stress levels have been high so a nice easy driving job is just what I need, fingers crossed ;)

Hello all, Hi Stewie - sorry we all went a bit quiet there! It sounds like you could do with a bit less stress, the driving job could be just what you need.

I am having major doubts about my plan to try and stay in my job, rubbish day yesterday, I ended up feeling very angry and upset and was glad to get home. I have found a job to apply for so will go for that and keep my eyes peeled for others. Rural Norfolk is hardly the career capital of the world but something will turn up.

Races for next year, I've entered Northampton Cakeathon and Windermere marathon and fancy doing Snowdonia and Loch Ness again. Could do with a job that doesn't leave me so depressed by the end of the day that I can't face running because that lot of races will need some serious training!

Stew, is the driving mainly local-ish or will it be long-distance with nights away from home?
Lem, you go for that job and anything else that shows up out there - a leopard never changes it's spots. It's time to get off that roller-coaster as soon as you can.

I signed up for a couple of 10ks and a 10 miler the other day. I think they may be off-road and hilly. :-o

Hope things work out Lem, I know what you mean about being unhappy in your job, Ive started to dread going to work these days because I never know what crap I'm going to walk into, hope it works out for you :)

Its local AR, 20 minute run in either direction, 4 runs a night on a 12 hr night shift, possibly less, all depends on how production at the local factory is running, done a few yrs of distance work including continental, car transporters, tankers etc, they say once you get diesel in your veins you never get it out, looks like im in the long list of drivers who stepped up to management but missed the rd as sad as that sounds.

. . .no idea how I did that^^^
training and races.
Lem sounds soul destroying - not huge heaps about this time of year so apply for what tempts you and aim for 2017 to be a year of positive change job-wise.
AR off-road and hilly! Are you part goat?!

I've signed up for the full RnR in Liverpool at the end of May (did the half last year and lvoed it, did the full the year before and had a nightmare so I've unfinished business with it - and it is my old home town), and the Thames Path 100k in September (more unfinished business, did the 50k a couple of years ago and loved it and quit the L2C100k after 85k this year - they're not running the L2C again next year but am convinced from both experiences that the Thames Path will be an easier race so should be abloe to get through)

Wow Mulbs those are some long distance races!

Good luck Stewie.

Lem, I walked away from a job or more accurately a work-place, that was so full of fuckwittery it took me a good six months to regain my equilibrium. It cost me a lot of lost salary and pension, but I've never regretted it.

Merry LG
I was the same LD after 25 years with the company and I went and started somewhere else and only lasted a year and now 11 years with my present place and have no regrets...still not earning what I would have been and missing 25% discount in a lot of shops, good holiday package but still happiness is everything.

Race wise next year I have only entered a 10mile in March but will start adding to that after the new year.

mulbs, they're some awesome races! You should try and join a TBC next year - the next one's probably going to be in February.
