Rob-They have already added 3k I think this year,it's the 100th next year do it clearly to help that. They claim to have consulted lots on the changes but I heard a podcast of Coach Parry earlier and he's well known in Comrades circles and he hadn't heard any whispers until Tuesday. Shades-I would guess chip time, but what will they do if I'm at the very back of group 1 and the clock shows my wave time ticks over 9 as I finish but my chip is under? Obvs I'm hoping it's not that close but it will happen for some people.

Shades, sore toe from the shoes. I thought it had gone so went for a run on Tuesday, but aggravated it a bit again so took a couple more days off. Whisper it, but PF seems okay with no issue during Seville, and no setback afterwards. I may do a short run Saturday, but if not it’ll be Sunday. I’ve packed my Hoka training shoes for the race.
Ian, that is quite a change for Comrades. It won’t detract from your own race or experience though. It’s going to be brilliant. I see you mention the 100th there so I’m already wondering if you’ll be going back!
Arrived fine at hotel. It’s a long journey to Gatwick for me but it actually wasn’t too bad.

Ian - chip to chip time would be accurate timing for the runners but a nightmare to police if they intend to pull runners off. Hopefully you'll get more info soon on how exactly it's going to work.
Big G - hope that toe has settled down now and you can run comfortably in your Hokas.
It's not the most pleasant of drives to Gatwick. Have a good journey today.
6 miles for me, lovely mild 9 degrees.
As I have 2 races coming up I've been checking the weather. OK for my 20 miler this weekend, I'd like it a bit milder but I should be OK.
For Llanelli the following weekend conditions would be perfect if the race was this weekend, 11-15 degrees. However, every time I look at next weekend it's got colder, currently 'feels like 1 and only getting to 4, 3 hours into the race. I'm hoping it improves but I can't do a marathon in that, even pre injuries I wouldn't do a race in those conditions. I've DNS'd this race before as it was too cold. Fingers crossed it changes.
Gym later, coffee with a friend on the way there.

I'm pretty sure it has to be chip timing,I'll wait for all the proper answers to come out and see.I might be better at the front of batch 2 if my current time puts me there rather than the back of batch 1 depending how they split them.I have until May to amend my qualifying time so presuming next week goes OK I'll decide after. Rain here all morning, but is better this afternoon so ill run later.I haven't exercised as much recently so will do that this morning instead. Weather looks good for Barca, start at 11° and finish at 16°,then full sun all afternoon to recover in.

Suspect 100 km might be stretching it but the 50km variant is tempting albeit it has the two hillier routes aka north and south.
50km not a distance i have done before so pondering that one. Alternative is three halves in a row that weekend.

Ian - that's good you can amend your qualifying time, by May there should be more details on how the new waves are going to work.
I'd take that weather that you'll have in Barcelona, perfect for me.
Keith - I'm surprised you've not done a 50k, it'll be a PB then 😉

Most of them are down south albeit Foxy does them now and then alongside his marathons. Just a extra lap and a out and back but thats more recent when i have not done many of his.

I hope the weather improves for Llanelli but not looking good as you say this weekend perfect for it.
I took tape off rubbed gel on achilles and wore compression socks and I had more flexibility.I opted to be sensible as I could feel it more on the drag up a short steep incline so binned idea of cycle path came back down and up a gentler hill 2.5 miles.

Just read a blog that has a lot of comments from the head of the race advisory committee, he has addressed most of the questions, only one really not confirmed is the chip question. Seeding now won't be hard time cut offs, rather they will have a set amount of runners in each batch once all the times are in which makes sense.2 seperate finish chutes with numbers clearly labelled then you get the medal depending on your time. Rumours are they are trying to get to 34k runners for the 100th,as originally there were 34 runners. The road out of PMZ is very small,so they want to reduce the chances of falling etc early and this will thin the field massively at the start.

Keith - but when doing multi laps it takes a strong will to do another lap when you've already reached marathon distance. That's what I've found, can never manage an ultra under those circumstances.
WP - I've just checked forecast again 😳 and an improvement for Llanelli of one degree...it's a start!
Glad you could get out. Wouldn't you be better keeping the tape on for support when running?
Ian - that sounds like they're planning really well for the changes.
