Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Tape seems to make it worse as more flexibility with compression socks.
Good news on 1 degree difference;-) I am about 45 minutes drive away and my weather station is reliable but could only tell you temps on the morning ;)

I know we get colder from Tuesday/Wednesday although girl in shop said a customer said a two week heatwave.....LOL

WP - on the morning would be too late! But I'll be keeping a close eye next week as we get nearer the time.

Don't think there's an expected heatwave here🤣

Staying the night before, it's about 3.5 hour drive each way. So can make final decision on the Saturday morning.

Shades-I would say they are all good changes now,as with a lot of big organisations they don't think properly,it would have been far better to have released the FAQs with the press release and saved themselves a lot of grief,as I can't see any negatives now really.
1° a day will be good improvement.
11.5 today, felt pretty good and a lot better up the hills than last time I did this route a couple of months ago.
Original target weight now hit,10lb gone now in 6 or 7 weeks, really happy with that and definitely aiming for another 7lb by June now.

Early start but I rolled out the hotel, got some breakfast and then boarded for the 4.5hr flight. Quite a lot of runners on the flight, unsurprisingly. We landed on time but then it was a scramble trying to get a taxi, with haggling involved, which put me off (he started at €45 and then went to €30 - it’s around 7 miles). If he’d just said €30 from the off I would have got in, but instead got the €2 bus which stopped 5mins from my hotel. Just to make the most of Monday, as the bus was a bit of a faff and they’re not that regular, I’ve organised a cab via the hotel for the way back though with an agreed €30 price (printed on a sign at the reception).

Hotel/apartment is nice and I dropped my stuff off, and walked the 10mins into town to get my race number. All very straight forward, in and out in 2mins. Looks a nice shirt although I won’t try it on until I’ve finished the race - I know it’s a ‘participants’ shirt and not a ‘finishers’ one, and I’m generally not superstitious, but I am about wearing a shirt I’ve not yet ran the race for!

Stopped at a lovely restaurant on the harbour for some seafood. I’ve booked into there for Saturday night and cancelled the other reservation I had as this will be perfect pre-race.

I’ve got the whole day tomorrow, but unsure what we’re doing yet. Will figure that all out later.

Ian - they have obviously caused themselves a lot of grief but at least with all the enquiries they should have covered all aspects of the change and now you're fully informed.

One degree is not enough 🥶 but I have a plan B if needed....

I've found a challenge event on 29th March, that I could do instead. I will lose my entry fee and parking re Great Welsh but the hotel for the challenge event is a lot cheaper and a bit less mileage for the drive. Surely it might be a bit warmer at the end of March 🤔

That's great news on your hilly run today and on your weight. A 10 pounds loss you will notice with your running.

I've lost another pound, unintentionally as I'd increased my food intake. I'm now 4 pounds lighter than my GFA weight and am happy to stick at this weight. Upping my food a bit more so I don't lose any more weight.

Xpost Big G - quite a long flight, my geography is pretty poor.

Well done on sorting the bus and the taxi back.

It doesn't take you long to source at the best local food on your travels 😋

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
