Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I went along to that VX3 Run Club this morning. They met around 1.5 miles from me, so I ran there, did their 6k route, had a coffee/chat, and then ran back. So 7 miles total, although a bit disjointed, but enjoyable.

Caught up with a few runners I’ve not seen for a while and had a chat with them - mainly marathon related chat. It’s an interesting group though as there are experienced runners and also total newbies.

VX3 are a local sportswear company so I guess they’re hoping for sales. But it’s a free run, and they give you a loyalty card. 5 times and you get a pair of socks, and 10 times you get 40% off at their online store. It’s good kit - Motleys use them. I’d say there were 30-40 there today, and they had a 3K and 6K group, with no takers for their 10K group.

Big G - nice change for a Sunday run for you. I've never heard of them but just had a quick look at their website and their kit looks good.

I see Paula Radcliffe clocked 2:57 at Tokyo, her first competitive marathon for 10 years. She's 51 years old now.

I expect she could have a place in London any time she wants. Also with the other majors 🤣

I think she’s finishing the 6 majors this year, at Boston?

Shades not a bad effort for Paula plugging a sub 3, that marathon in 2015 wasn’t overly competitive either 2:45ish and having a fun run round London with the masses. Well done on the body composition, I tried to get an NHS test when I turned 40, GP just said none available for your age yet. Did one this year with vitality and all tests came back okay except I was obese. Good luck for the 20 next week, will be a good test.

WP sorry to hear your training was curtailed by ice.

Ian great mileage for Feb, defo earnt the cafe stop.

Rcouture hope the groin is getting better.

Keith enjoy London, it’s always warmer down here!

Switched shoes and will have a look at the adrenalines before I try them again, they weren’t going to be used for London just a training shoe. Will try thicker socks and see if that makes a difference.

Got out for a few miles yesterday evening as needed to get a couple of bits from the shop.

16 miles today up and down the river, put on my new shirt, shorts and brooks adrenalines which will be my London kit. Felt okay final mile was tough but probably my mind knowing it was done. Reasonable pace throughout. 38 miles for the week

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
