Nell Glad race went well and I inspired a dish for dinner. It is hard coming up with meals all the time.

Shades Good luck out there today!

I am only just out of bed so a later run once light I hope it is okay as hard to see in dark.

Meh only a very light sprinkling on some surfaces. Not been out yet mind as it's hitting er 1 max today and it's supposed to be quite breezy too.

Watching red one on amazon then will probably jump on the bike for a bit before even pondering going outside.

WP - Do you have snow, is it OK to run?

Keith - hope you can get out too for a run.

7 miles for me this morning. Taped up my calf and it was fine. I had to turn back due to flooding, quite scary seeing the speed of the water rising to cover the path. I ran on a bit further and came back before the road was completely flooded. Lovely and mild, rain and strong winds too. But I'd have that weather anytime rather than the cold.

A disappointing 36 miles for the week but the coming week might be worse as we have frost and ice and all that water is not going to dry up in time.

No snow at all! Just drizzly rain and a fog was hard to see 100m in front of me.First run since NYD calf still an issue but had taken tape off so may need to tape again. But I ran 4.5 miles -yay :) a mild 3 degrees. River is full to over flowing and flooding in places.

Keith Good luck if you go out to run!

WP - good you could get out for a run. You/we are not responsible for the weather, so will just have to accept a step back week or two. Not a bad thing as you need that calf to recover.

I taped my calf this morning and will leave the tape on until it needs changing, should last at least a week.

Shades Absolutely a few weeks of limited mileage is not going to scupper our training or our goals even if we/I think it will.We just have to roll with it for a while.

How was the weather? As warm as predicted?

WP - it was lovely and mild, 13 degrees. Heavy rain and windy but that wasn't a problem. My feet got wet but they weren't cold.

It's cold out even just walking to and from shop. Also some short snowy patches but mostly only the odd cluster here and there. Also not overly icy oddly being it's still damp.

Maybe something to hope for not getting too bad with the colder week ahead.

I'll just jump on the bike shortly but might ponder running post work tomorrow. The science park has a pavement around most of it plus grass to the side if i need to dodge any icy patches.

Heavy rain over night and when I woke up I wasn’t relishing a run. But I’d agreed to go out with the Motleys so jumped in the car and went over to Bovey Tracey, and nine of us went up and down the trail there. 6 of us did 10 miles and 3 did 8 miles, and then we went back to the cafe for coffee and breakfast afterwards

It was wet but it’s a pleasant enough route, and the 10 miles takes me to 56 for the week. Feeling pretty good really, but rest day tomorrow as that’s 6 days in a row again.

I was thinking ‘if it’s raining like this next week, I still may not do that trail marathon’, so I’m still playing that by ear really. Don’t want to risk a fall on an event that isn’t that important to me.

The countdown continues…..7 weeks until Seville.

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
