Ian - I don't blame you. I could use the treadmills in the gym but I know i wouldn't last 5 minutes. I tolerate the incline walking on it as part of my knee/back rehab but as yet haven't lasted the optimum time of 30 minutes.
Nell - IMHO a foam roller is an unnecessary instrument of torture. My previous pilates instructor has been on a foam roller course and is a big fan. She varies her classes into 4 weeks specialising in one aspect, backs, hamstrings etc. And one of her themes is the foam roller 🤣 . I bought my own as I wanted a softer one than the ones provided. Hated every minute using it and I don't find it any help at all.
My preferred recovery is a hot bath, and a recovery run the following morning, if possible.
When I had my first injury that wasn't healing quickly I bought an exercise bike. Didn't really enjoy using it. Once I was running again the only thing I used the exercise bike for was to hang the ironing on, the handlebars were just the right height. 🤣

LOL Shades... when the bike was in the house we did exactly the same - used it mostly as a clothes hanger.
I quite like foam rolling - I do find it beneficial between sports massages, but it was just so sore yesterday! I have a sports massage booked for Wednesday (will use a Christmas present voucher) so I know I'll be sorted then - my masseur is brilliant

Ian - that's annoying but hopefully the first year will be a success and you'll get the chance to run the following year. However, I believe Comrades is quite an addictive race 😉
8 miles today. No rain, snow or ice but a relentless headwind on the return run, NW so a cold wind. 5 degrees with a 'feels like' of 1 degree.
Gym later.

Where as we had 3 degrees feels like -2 it was cold and wet but no ice 6.3 miles ran which was more than I expected as calf still niggly and legs tired.

WP - good you could do a fair distance today. I wasn't sure if you'd be able to get out to run.
Hoping our wet roads dry up otherwise possible ice for the next few mornings.
Went to the gym. Slight twinge in calf on 5 min warm up on the rowing machine. I decided to try legs and glutes exercises and switch to upper body if my calf was sore. But I did whole legs/glutes session with no problem, I was just a little cautious on the weights, particularly on the calf raises. Finished with 8km on the bike.
Gym was quiet when I got there but within 5 minutes loads of people arrived and suddenly it was really busy. Lots of newbies, one very annoying woman that stood behind me when I was on the bike. She was texting and then had an horrific coughing fit without moving away from me. ðŸ˜

Tomorrow and Thursday look tricky but will play by ear as G day tomorrow so I usually am out early to get a run in.If I can I will run as Thursday may end up as rest day unless the weather improves.
That is good news with workout in gym-not look for review?
Some people have not got a clue how to behave!

WP - I've just seen that we have a yellow warning for snow and ice tonight, I think it's for your area too 😥
